I wake up every morning in a bed that’s too small, drive my daughter to a school that’s too expensive, and then I go to work to a job for which I get paid too little, but on Pretzel Day? Well, I like Pretzel Day.

I am pleased to add Sock Pretzel! to my repertoire of food-themed colorwork sock patterns. Starting today, they’re available for purchase on Ravelry!
These are the perfect WIP for those days when you’re lounging on the couch, enjoying your favorite snack. They only require two colors to knit as opposed to my usual three (see All Tomato, Pickle Barrel, and Frankfooter), so they’re also travel friendly! I carried them with me to the library, doctor’s offices, restaurants, and more while I was making them.
Sock Pretzel! is available in four sizes to fit foot circumferences 8–11 in (20–28 cm). They’re worked from the cuff down and feature a striking two-stranded pretzel motif, complete with a sweet checkered bonus chart for the foot. Colors are carried as you work, so no need to worry about having a ton of ends to weave in afterward!
The forethought heel construction makes it easy to add an extra pop of contrast, or you can keep things simple and stick with your main color like I did. This type of heel suits a variety of insteps and is easy to customize to your precise fit needs. Plus, if you ever wear your heels thin, they’ll be super easy to repair! Don’t worry, though; if you already have a favorite heel construction, you can easily substitute it into your Sock Pretzel! socks.
Thank you to my wonderful pool of test knitters who helped check my math and provided me with valuable feedback. I learn something new with every design, and this one was no different!
